Sweepstakes Casinos in Tennessee: Banned

Public Chapter 1117 of 2026 (SB 2136 / HB 1885) declares the operation, conducting or commercial promoting of online sweepstakes games, defined to include games using a virtual-, dual- or multi-currency system, and other online or app-based gambling unlawful, carving out the lottery, licensed sports wagering, fantasy sports and certain nonprofit events. Operating or commercially promoting such games, and supporting, facilitating or assisting their operation, are violations of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, enforceable by the attorney general through injunctions, civil penalties and private actions. The act was signed May 22, 2026 and took effect on signing.
