New York Law Summary
Chapter 605 of 2025 prohibits operating, conducting or promoting online sweepstakes games that use a dual-currency system redeemable for cash prizes and simulate casino-style gaming, lottery, bingo or sports wagering, and bars financial institutions, payment processors, geolocation providers, gaming content suppliers, platform providers and media affiliates from supporting such games. Violations carry fines of $10,000 to $100,000 per violation and can affect gaming-license eligibility; the law took effect on signing, December 5, 2025. Separately, the Attorney General secured an $8 million settlement from VGW (Chumba Casino, Global Poker, LuckyLand Slots) on September 9, 2026.
